WALKING IN STRATHMORE

Ardler – Newtyle Railway Route

​

This Viewranger link highlights the circular railway route around the Newtyle area but you can access this from Ardler by following the old railway line from Bentham, Wallace or Franklin Street to join the route.

Kinpurney Hill and Monument

Easily accessible by car within a few minutes’ drive from Meigle or Ardler, or also by following the railway path from Ardler, is the start of the Kinpurney Hill route in Newtyle.   Now an empty stone shell, Kilpurney Tower is the destination for this strenuous yet rewarding hike. Sidlaws: Auchterhouse and Craigowl Hill

A twenty minute drive takes you to Balkello Community Woodland car park – follow the Walkhighlands route and you will be rewarded with fine views of Strathmore, the Angus Glens and the River Tay.  You will also take in Balkello Hill.
